Chicken (Live at the Old Town Hall)

from Lost Tracks by Guano Breath

/

about

Quite possibly the second song I wrote shortly after buying a Takamine dreadnought acoustic-electric in May 1981. It's also the shortest song in my repertoire. Guess chickens don't live all that long. First public performance of this number, recorded live at the Kuala Lumpur Town Hall with KD Possum & The Flying Fox (featuring Roger Smithers on piano).

lyrics

Chicken in the yard
Scratching dirt without a care
Will you ever quit your pecking
You silly chicken
And do a little checking?

Have you ever wondered
Where you come from
Have you ever asked yourself
Where you're going?

Chicken in the soup
With the onions & potatoes
Oooh you're looking good
And ready to be served

Hallelujah hallelujah Harland Sanders
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna curry chicken

Chicken a la king
Chicken in the basket
Chicken Delite & Kentucky Fried
And your mama's good old roast chicken

Guano Breath Malaysia

My output mostly dates back to the 1980s and has been heard by a mere handful. This isn't what I'm into now but at least I'm not too embarrassed about it.

Collaborations with others & freestyle choreographic works form an integral part of my archive.

I enjoy being the world's least ambitious musician.
