about

Among the greatest musical anomalies of all time, KD Possum & The Flying Fox was a Malaysian bluegrass band that made its debut in 1977 and was so warmly received we continued staging concerts until December 1981 - after which the band abruptly disintegrated.

Founded by Rob Stuebing (guitar, dobro & lead vocals), a former Peace Corps volunteer & biologist specializing in reptilians, the group's core members included John Davis on banjo, Lightnin' Fooch on mandolin & guitar, M. Eeel (now Antares) on harmonicas & mandolin; and regularly featured Nashville Slim (better known as Lat, Malaysia's most popular cartoonist) on guitar, plus Shamala Devi & Ping on vocals & autoharp.

Sometimes we would have guest musicians like Willy Chin, Eddy Lim & Jinx on mandolin/guitar, 2nd banjo & violin. On this recording we even had a pianist named Roger Smithers. KDP & TFF was a 100% amateur combo and never made any money. But we had heaps of fun and some folks still remember us with great fondness and quiet amusement.

Recorded live at the Town Hall, Kuala Lumpur, 8 & 9 December 1981. Rescued from analog oblivion by Daniel Tang of AddAudio in 2010 (he had to work from a moldy & moribund cassette, which explains why there are no individual tracks).

about

Guano Breath Malaysia

My output mostly dates back to the 1980s and has been heard by a mere handful. This isn't what I'm into now but at least I'm not too embarrassed about it.

Collaborations with others & freestyle choreographic works form an integral part of my archive.

I enjoy being the world's least ambitious musician.
